In Sintra you can visit the Pena Palace and many other palaces, castles and museums, its famous mountain range known as the Mount of the Moon, and on the way to Cabo da Roca, that is the westernmost point of the European Continent. A stone pattern with a tombstone marks this Geographic Particularity, Cabo da Roca, it’s also called “Snorkel of the Rock” by people connected to things of the sea, and more poetically by ,”Promontory of the Moon”, is integrated in the Natural Park of Sintra in Cabo da Roca, the visitor faces a spectacular landscape and an imposing lighthouse. Arriving in Cascais, a refined seaside resort, we can visit Boca do Inferno (the mouth of hell) an old cave with unique characteristics, it is a place of leisure, where you can enjoy a divine landscape and magnificent sunset. We have the Guincho Beach in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean where you can enjoy its beautiful wild dunes.

In Sintra, also known by ‘Monte da Lua’ (The Mountain of the Moon), you can encounter amazing places like Moors Castle, Regaleira Farm, Seteais Palace, Monserrate Palace starting with the Nacional Palace of Sintra located in the middle os the village, impossible to miss!

This city is today known as ‘The Portuguese Riveira’ were the visitant can enjoy nice weather, amazing beaches, landscapes and amazing food.

At night you can have fun and enjoy with friends in the village, maybe for a drink or instead for a walk by the Sea!

QUELUZ

This city is well known for the Queluz Nacional Palace one of the greatest buildings using the Rococo achitectural style in Europe. The palace was built as a sumer house for D. Pedro de Bragança.

Less know is that, an important infrastructures passes through this city and ends in Lisbon: The ‘Aqueduto das Águas Livres’ a roman aqueduct that brought, in another time in history, the water to Lisbon!

and you still can experience this

EXTRAS and local activities

TRADICIONAL PASTERY

Sintra is well know for leaving a special taste in our mouth (literally), the magnificent landscapes and misteriouse places and … the Tradicional Pastery!

The ‘Travesseiros’ and ‘Queijadas’ are some of the most wanted among all visitants. Another ‘treasure’ is the ‘Fofos de Belas’, a ‘spongecake’ with special cream, that is almost impossible to get only one! The original factory is located in Belas, near Queluz.

Don’t forget to try them!

FOUNTAINS

Water is a precious resource to humans and all living beings but in Sintra, water, it is said to be miraculous!

Since a long time ago references have been made to the sources of crystalline water that spreading which in abundance are multiplied by the mountain range, accentuating the sensation of freshness and green!

The amazing artwork done in some of the fountains gives us the sensation of gratitute for this once considered healing waters!

MUSEUMS

The National Palace of Queluz and its historic gardens are one of the most extraordinary examples of the harmonious connection between landscape and palatial architecture in Portugal.
It was built in 1747 by D. Pedro III, consort of D. Maria I, the Palace of Queluz was initially conceived as a summer residence, becoming a privileged space for leisure and entertainment of the Royal Family, which inhabited it permanently from 1794 until the departure to Brazil, in 1807, following the French invasions.

SEAFOOD

The Atlantic Ocean is a really good friend of Portuguese people and we have a special relation with the ‘seas’ that permited our ancestors to navigate all around the world and collect special goods and technics, some of the applied to Portuguese cuisine!

So you can expect to find amazing, tasting, delicious food with fishes like ‘Robalo’, ‘Dourada’, ‘Bacalhau’ and many more, or you can always try the ‘Espetada de Lulas’, ‘Choquinhos’ among others.

Hint: But if you start with some ‘Salada de Polvo’ or ‘Gambas à Guilho’ than the experience is taken to another level!

Don’t forget to try the wine!
