FADO VÁDIO
We start our Tour of the Fado for a tour in Lisbon at night visiting the most emblematic Monuments of our city, the Torre de Belém, the Gardens of the Jeronimos Monastery, the Terreiro do Paço, with a visit to several Viewpoints where you can enjoy the city and the river Tagus. Then we will have a dinner at a typical Alfama Restaurant with an amateur Fado show.
Fado is the result of an historical and cultural fusion that occurred in Lisbon in the second half of the XIX century is a song that does not need a language because the feeling is in the voice of those who sing along with the Portuguese Guitar. The Fado was elevated to the category of Cultural and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. It’s typically Portuguese and sung throughout the World, but only felt in Portuguese.
In this tour can visit many cities, see amazing monuments and landscapes, experience the heritage and enjoy culture!
This tour don’t include: Tickets for monuments and all meals are at the client’s expense

FADO?
This is a portuguese music style interpreted, normally, by a soul singer and accompanied by a classic guitar and Portuguese guitar, and together they can make you connect to the portuguese people and culture.

THE PORTUGUESE GUITAR
The cittern was a stringed instrument strongly present in court music from all over Europe but we, portuguese, took it to another level!
We added substantial changes, such as a tuning and interior construction completely different from those typical of the cistre, and those diferences make its sound run like a river for the singer’s voice to flow in!

AMÁLIA RODRIGUES
She was a well beloved Portuguese fadista, singer and actress, generally acclaimed as the voice of Portugal and one of the most brilliant singers of the 20th century!
Our ‘Queen’ contribution to the history of Fado was the novelty she introduced to sing poems by great Portuguese writers such as ‘Luís de Camões’ or D. Dinis’ songs and trovas.
Rodrigues was instrumental in popularising Fado worldwide and travelled internationally throughout her career, and she was considered by many as one of its best ambassadors in the world. She appeared in several television programs around the world, where she not only sang fados and other songs of Portuguese popular tradition, but also contemporary songs and even some music of foreign origin!
